Exam results not what you planned? Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be the end of your story – and it could be the start of an exciting new chapter at Swansea University.

First and foremost, don’t panic! We know it can be scary when things don’t turn out quite as you’d planned but there are options you may not have thought about yet and that’s why we are here to help you find out more about clearing.

This is the UCAS process of matching students without places up with courses where there are vacancies. You may now be considering clearing because:

  • You haven’t quite achieved the grades you were expecting;
  • You got better grades than expected;
  • You've changed your mind about the university at which you wish to study; or
  • You want to change to another course.

Whatever the reason, clearing can be the ideal opportunity to secure a place at university that is just right for you.

At Swansea you are not on your own when it comes to making that kind of big decision – we have a dedicated team of staff on hand to support you every step of the way during the clearing process. They’re there to give you expert guidance about what is possible from our wide range of courses as well as help with accommodation and finance.

We’re a friendly University and we think you’ll love it here because we offer excellence in learning together with inspirational teaching as well as a great outdoor lifestyle - and a very warm welcome.

Swansea boasts award-winning teaching and world-class research alongside a wide range of courses – from foundation degrees right through to postgraduate opportunities. Plus, there is plenty of expert guidance to make sure you get the right career pointers to prepare you for life after university, no matter which course you are looking at or how you ended up choosing us.

And don’t just take our word for it. When student Hope Henry received her A-level results she realised she hadn’t done as well as she hoped.

“Everything felt like complete chaos until I received a phone call from Swansea University, who talked me through my options,” she sai

“I accepted a place on the Foundation Year of Applied Medical Sciences, a degree offering me a Pathway to Medicine, as studying medicine was my ultimate end goal. I can wholeheartedly say that this was the best decision I have ever made – right from that initial phone call, Swansea believed in me as a person and as a student.”

Clearing is available to anyone not already holding an offer from a university or college, and where courses still have available spaces. It is open now, right up until the start of term in September.

If you do decide to join us in September, you will become part of our unique community = you can enjoy life at our two beachfront campuses where you’ll find the ideal facilities for a successful student experience.

Our Students’ Union supports more than 50 clubs and 130 societies, giving you great opportunities to forge new friendships and try something new.

And when you are not studying you will not only be minutes away from the city centre but also close enough to explore beautiful Gower and its attractions easily.

We’ve had more than a century of experience when it comes to providing the best in higher education, but we never stop trying to improve.  Ensuring our students get the experience of a lifetime remains our priority.

At Swansea we’re known for being welcoming, inclusive and supportive, however you ended up finding out about us so why not come and see what we have to offer?

Sign up for updates, advice and top tip about clearing or you can talk to our friendly admissions team to find out more.

And don’t forget, if you apply to us before August 24, you will get a guaranteed offer of accommodation.
