Rachel Bird gained her PhD in Classics at Swansea University in 2016. She now works as an independent researcher, but is linked to KYKNOS, the Swansea Research Group on Ancient Narrative Literature. Her monograph 'Sophrosune in the Greek Novel: Reading Reactions to Desire' is to be published by Bloomsbury Academic in December 2020. Her primary research interest is the Ancient Novel, but she is also interested in other aspects of Imperial Greek literature, and Greek tragedy and its reception in the Imperial era.
