Dr. Andongma Awawing is an Entomologist. Her research interest is primarily focused on exploiting symbiotic bacteria for insect pest management

Dr. Andongma graduated with a BSc from the University of Buea (Cameroon), an M. Phil from the University of Ghana and a PhD from Hauzhong Agricultural University, (China). After her PhD, she did a six month research training on the biological control of insects at the National Institute of Agricultural Research in France followed by a 2- year postdoc in China. Her PhD and postdoc were focused on the diversity, structure and function of symbiotic bacteria associated with fruit flies. Dr. Andongma joined Swansea University in 2018 and has been working on a fascinating project which employs symbiotic bacteria as a vehicle to deliver RNAi to insects.
