Closed Groups

Closed group programmes are for groups (a minimum of six participants), and we design the content of the programme in discussion with you. The programmes are designed and delivered by the ELTS team, and you can choose:  

• Location – we deliver courses face-to-face in Swansea or online 

• Course length, from one week to one year 

• Content – General English, Academic English, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), or Teaching methodology 

• Weekly trips and social activities 

• Airport transfers 

• Support with booking accommodation  

• Industry visits or guest speakers (subject to availability) 

Course costs are based on the number of participants, course content, and additional options.  

We can create bespoke programmes for adults based around our General English Programme or our Academic language programmes. We have established links with academic departments across the university and can help to arrange for groups to visit the faculties and meet academic staff. Recent closed group adult courses include:  

• Teacher development course for Future Education Professionals 

• English for Medical professionals 

• CPD for visiting Academic Staff

We organise closed group programmes for groups of teenagers, aged 14-18 years old. Programmes can be designed with or without social activities or excursions. Programme content and objectives are designed in discussion with group leaders, and we have designed programmes which have focused on: 

• General English  

• IELTS and B2 First (FCE) exam preparation 

• British culture 

• Introduction to academic study in the UK 

Course costs are based on the number of participants, course content, and additional options.  

We are happy to work with group leaders, schools, and organisations to design a programme that best suits their group's needs. Please contact us to let us know your requirements.  

ELTS has a duty of care to safeguard all students aged under 18 in its care. ELTS will ensure the safety and protection of all under 18s enrolled on its programmes through adherence to the Safeguarding guidelines that we have adopted. 

We will endeavour to ensure that under 18s are protected whilst studying at ELTS. We will do this by: 

• making sure all ELTS staff are carefully selected and DBS checked 

• providing appropriate safeguarding training for staff. 

• providing a dedicated Safeguarding Officer who meets all under 18s on a weekly basis. 

• taking attendance and monitoring student behaviour. 

• ensuring that students are supervised during lessons and trips. 

• adhering to the University Safeguarding Vulnerable groups policy. 

• providing students with a 24-hour emergency contact number. 

• providing each student with an under 18s handbook. 

• ensuring trips and activities will be age appropriate with risk assessments undertaken 

• working with group leaders to ensure the safety of the students when they are not participating in ELTS-organised activities (classes or excursions).  

Note for parents/guardians:

Under 18s who are studying with ELTS are supervised by ELTS tutors during lessons and organized excursions. Outside of these times they are supervised by their group leaders/teachers.
