Marcela has had a core interest in Human Anatomy for more than 20 years. She is one of the main anatomists within the Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) Programme at Swansea University Medical School since 2015. Through her expertise she utilises blended learning strategies in the progressive development of anatomy knowledge. In 2016 Marcela has been appointed as a module lead for the Anatomy module for the BSc Applied Medical Science degree programme. She proactively delivers Anatomy sessions to variable audience such as within the Family fun day, Hands on Anatomy CPD course for health professionals, Integrated Health Care Society evenings, Pint of Science Festival talk, Swansea City FC physiotherapists sessions. As Anatomy is her passion and especially practical 3D anatomy, she organizes extremely popular extracurricular dissection courses for second year medical students twice in each academic year. She is also an active academic attending various workshops, meetings and international conferences in her specialization and medical education fields. Since 2016 she is a member of Swansea University Medical School Research Ethics Sub-Committee and since 2019 a Senate Representative for Swansea University Medical School. As a recognition to her teaching dedication she was nominated by staff and students to BMA/BMJ Clinical Teacher of the Year Awards 2020 in Wales.
