Swansea University Medical School's research efforts are housed in ILS, the Institute of Life Science. ILS offers six major facilities. These facilities provide a research infrastructure based on eHealth and Informatics (including the Data Science Building Research Facility); Mass Spectrometry (including the EPSRC National Facility for Mass Spectrometry); the Centre for NanoHealth; the Biomedical Laboratories; and the Joint Clinical Research Facilities (including a clinical research unit, clinical trials unit and imaging). Bio-entrepreneurship is supported across ILS by the Commercial Incubator facility, linking business with our research and intellectual property.
These major facilities enable delivery of research and innovation across the 4 major Research Themes of the College: Biomarkers & Genes, Devices, Microbes and Immunity and Patient & Population Health and Informatics.
