Department of Psychology

About the Department of Psychology

Psychology is a Department within the College of Human and Health Sciences, Swansea University.

  • The Psychology Department was the first Psychology Department to be awarded an 'Excellent' rating by the Higher Education Funding Council for the quality of its teaching environment.

  • Our students benefit from instruction by internationally recognised researchers, excellent teaching facilities, and a friendly campus community. The University buildings, and many halls of residence, are conveniently located in a single, friendly campus.

  • An increasing percentage of our students now come from overseas, indicating Swansea’s growing academic reputation.

We are a rapidly growing, research-led department. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 35% of our research was judged to be world leading (4*) or Internationally excellent (3*), and 45% was Internationally recognised (2*). We currently have 24 full-time members of academic staff. Through continuous investment in research infrastructure and by expanding staffing levels, we plan to further support our research achievement.
