Research Institute (RIAH)

The Research Institute for Arts and Humanities (RIAH) brings together academics, postgraduates and visiting national and international scholars to create a rich and vibrant research environment geared to international excellence and impact.

Graduate Centre

The Arts and Humanities Graduate Centre fosters and supports individual and collaborative research activity of international excellence and offers a vibrant and supportive environment for students pursuing postgraduate research and taught masters study. The Centre provides postgraduate training to enhance academic and professional development and facilitates participation in seminar programmes, workshops and international conferences.

The College Departments

We have six departments, Academi Hywel Teifi, Adult Continuing Education, English Language & Literature, History and Classics, Languages, Translation & Communication and Political and Cultural Studies. Our Research Institute (RIAH) provides a specialist research environment for our researchers and postgraduates.

Academi Hywel Teifi

The Academi Hywel Teifi is a centre of excellence for research and teaching the Welsh language and its literature. The Academi promotes Welsh for Adults, Welsh degree schemes, Welsh-medium teaching and research across the university. 

Adult Continuing Education

DACE provides community-based learning for adults in South West Wales. Our programmes include a Preparation course and the part-time degree for the BA Humanities, Lectures, Pathways, Taster Courses and HE Certificates and Diplomas.

Political and Cultural Studies

Political and Cultural Studies is home to research and teaching in Politics, International Relations, International Security, Public Policy, Development Studies, Comparative Journalism, Digital Media, International Communication, Media Studies, PPE/PPL, American Studies and War and Society.
