Key to the realisation of smart packaging is the development of appropriate sensors, coatings and integration with electronics. This project will research appropriate sensors for food spoilage, complimentary active coatings and then their integration with chipless RFID. This project will also address the scale up to volume production. Gravure printing is seen as the most likely candidate process for this technology, although the offset and flexo printing will be included in the assessment process. (awarded 2023)
