Why did you choose to study at Swansea University?
I chose Swansea because of the following:
- Structure of the course – Swansea is one of the few universities that offer sustainable management and the only one I found that offers sustainable engineering management with relation to international development. I wanted a course that will combine my background in engineering and my passion for development work and the course offers that.
- The scenery – I love the relaxed feeling of studying, living next to and being able to go for a walk on the beach.
- The diversity – I love the diversity in nationality that exist at Swansea university. The lectures come from different backgrounds so does the student ambassadors.
Can you tell us about your course and what do you enjoy the most?
My course is an extra intensive but fulfilling course. It allows me as an engineering professional to expand my thinking faculty. Most engineers are so used creating solution with a particular mindset in mind. SEM4ID allows me to take a more holistic approach to creating. Not just considering the technical hurdles that need to be crossed but also the impact on the social, economic, and environmental life of a community.
Also enjoy relating with the community and projects done around Swansea (Kilvey Hill) gives a good insight into what community partnerships and support feels like.
Right now, I feel like an engineer who can think like a social scientist. It’s an incredible feeling.
What are your three favourite things about Swansea?
- The scenery
- The Locals
- The inclusivity
Would you recommend Swansea University to other international students?
I will recommend Swansea repeatedly. Especially the fact that it has a plethora of activities, courses, and societies to include virtually anyone. From the vibrancy of wind street, to the calmness of the marina, Swansea has it all.
