Taith funding is funding provided by the Welsh government to support students undertaking a year abroad, semester abroad, or summer programme.
Funding amounts for students through the Taith programme are set externally by the Taith programme. The amounts are calculated based on the host country, duration of placement, and whether the student qualifies for Widening Participation (WP) status. Students will receive subsistence funding and a travel grant. The travel grant is a fixed rate based on distance travelled. Grant rates can be seen in the drop-down below.
Widening Participation (WP) eligibility criteria is as follows:
- annual household income of £25,000 or less
- students receiving Universal Credit or income-related benefits
- care leavers and care-experienced students
- estranged students.
- refugees and asylum seekers.
Students will apply to the Go Global team for Taith funding (if going to a Taith eligible country) and in order to be eligible students will be required to complete the relevant paperwork. Taith funding is limited and not available for all students.
