Arranging work experience placements

Our Work Placement Opportunities

Swansea Paid Internship Network

Through our Paid Internship Network we seek to connect employers to students for 4 week graduate level placements. Students apply via Employment Zone, and student employability bootcamps are available to ensure that both the business and the student get the most out of the internship. Students are paid at minimum wage for a 21 year old by their employer, and employers are able to claim £469 (half the salary) back from the university. The SPIN programme runs during the summer vacation period (although placements can occur part-time during term).

WOW - Week of Work

Our Week of Work programme offers students a taster of a wide range of businesses and gives employers an opportunity to bring students’ dynamic talent to the business for shorter projects.   Students apply via Employment Zone, and student employability bootcamps are available to ensure that both the business and the student get the most out of the internship. The Week of Work programme runs during January and the summer vacation period (although placements can occur part-time during term).

Santander Placements

The Santander Universities Placement Programmes provide recent graduates and undergraduates with paid work experience within local SMEs and third sector organisations. Santander offers flexible grants to these employers. For more information, email EmploymentZone@swansea.ac.uk

We're flexible!

Occasionally, you may wish to extend placements or offer shorter placements than outlined above. If so, ask us about:

  • WoWees
  • Mini WoWs & Mini SPINs

We’re often asked what work an intern could perform

Here are some examples to inspire you, but we'd love to hear your ideas on how a student could make a difference in your organisation
