Michael E Rees
Head of Development and Alumni Relations
Michael Rees was born in Aberystwyth and regards Cardiganshire as ‘God’s Country’. He read Law at Cardiff University and has extensive experience in economic regeneration and development. Michael is fully bilingual in English and Welsh.

Antonella Moretti-Murphy has extensive experience in administration, PA and secretarial roles, having worked for construction companies, manufacturing and non-profit organizations before joining the university in 2006 as a secretarial assistant in the Economics department. She has now been working for the Development and Alumni Relations Office for the past twelve months, where she manages all aspects of the office finances. A typical working day can involve co-ordinating travel plans, assisting with the organising of meetings and reunions, ordering office supplies, responding to enquiries via email or phone. She is fluent in Italian, this being her mother tongue, and can also speak Spanish having attended courses in the DACE department at Swansea University.

Alumni Relations and Legacy Manager
Sally Thurlow took up the role of Alumni Officer in 2005 and has been responsible for managing the relationship between the University and its alumni. With the recent investment in a Development function at the University, Sally’s role within the newly formed Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) is to steward relationships with alumni, donors and friends, encouraging a lifelong relationship with Swansea University. Sally has a degree in Marketing and holds a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma. Prior to starting at Swansea, Sally worked in various marketing and event-management roles in the private and charity sectors.

Alumni Relations Assistant
Aimee Pritchard has worked at Swansea University for 5 years, first as a Business Engagement Officer for Technocamps and recently as Alumni Relations Assistant. A trained teacher, Aimee is proficient in ICT and business studies. Aimee is responsible for the alumni website and digital marketing.

Stuart Swan began his career as a Bid Manager in the power transmission and distribution industry, then held similar roles within the nuclear and professional services sectors. He joined DARO in 2013 as a Development Officer.

Bill Saunders started working at the University in 2012 after completing an MA in International Development. He has several years’ experience of development and marketing-communications in Canada.

Dr. Valasaravakkam Rahiman Syed Abdul MAHABOOB BASHA, born in South India says ‘Swansea is God’s own Country’. He started his career as a Diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service. He also served as elected International Officer in the Students’ Union for two terms before he joined DARO in 2013. As a Swansea alumnus he holds an MA in historical studies, and has a Doctorate in Business Administration and Events Management from Sri Lanka. He is currently working to establish new International Chapters all over the world as part of Centenary 2020 celebrations.

Arran is a recent graduate in French and Italian from the University of Warwick. She spent several periods abroad during her degree, including a role as a receptionist and working at the press area of a world music festival. She is currently assisting the DARO department to secure funding for the British Science Festival, which will take place at the University in September.
