Dr Sara Jones is a lecturer in public health in Swansea University and a researcher In the Centre for Lactation Infant Feeding and Translational research (LIFT). She qualified as an adult nurse in 2009 and as specialist community public health nurse (health visitor) in 2014.
Her experience in nursing is primarily within the A&E setting and acute medicine and has worked in A&E in the UK and Australia. In 2014 she worked as a health visitor for a short time before returning to work in A&E nursing alongside undertaking a PhD in public health which was awarded in 2020. Her PhD ‘The SHIFT study: exploring the role of a baby-led feeding approach on infant growth - implications for childhood obesity’ explored the impact of different infant feeding methods on infant growth and childhood obesity. She continues to undertake research in the field of infant feeding and maternal health.
She also has an interest in global public health and has volunteered as an infant feeding expert in migrant and displaced communities.
Sara is a qualified yoga teacher and teaches in the evenings and weekends.
