Fantastic Fire

This year, Swansea University Science for Schools Scheme (S4) has teamed up with Swansea Science Festival to bring your pupils an action-packed show at the Taliesin Arts Centre. Join us as we explore the science of fire. Through a range of exciting experiments and daring demonstrations pupils will see the fire triangle in action and discover how fire can be used to illustrate other scientific concepts.

What does a fire need to burn? Can we start a fire with a chemical reaction? Is all fire orange? We will answer these questions and more in our Fantastic Fire show.

This show is designed around the Curriculum for Wales Science and Technology area of learning and expertise and will focus will focus on three statements...

  • Being curious and searching for answers is essential to understanding and predicting phenomena.
  • Matter and the way it behaves defines our universe and shapes our lives.
  • Forces and energy provide a foundation for understanding our universe.

The content of the show will focus on progression steps 2-4 for these statements, and as such is recommend for pupils in KS2 or early KS3.
