Driving to Our Campuses

At Swansea University we are committed to embedding sustainable practices throughout every aspect of University life.

With this in mind, we encourage staff and students to use sustainable modes of transport wherever possible. If you live close to our campuses, why not walk or cycle to work? It’s great for your physical and mental wellbeing, better on your pocket and can help reduce our impact on the environment. Bus travel is another more sustainable option; a number of local bus services connect our campuses; you can find out more about them over on our Bus Travel page.

We do appreciate that some staff and students are unable to use other forms of transport such as bus, bike or walking due to personal circumstances. If you have no other option than to drive to university, you may be able to apply for a permit that will allow you to park either on or close to the university campuses*.

*Please note that car parking space on campus is in high demand.

Parking on Singleton Campus

Students are unable to park on Singleton Park Campus between 08:00 and 16:00 from Monday to Friday and will need a permit to park on Singleton Park Campus outside of these hours – find out how to apply for a permit in the 'Car Parking For Students' section below.

Pay & Display parking at The Pub on The Pond and The Recreational Ground is available but limited. We therefore don't encourage students to bring their cars to university with them.

Parking on Bay Campus

Students are able to use the Pay & Display car park at our Bay Campus, between 08:00 and 16:00 Monday to Friday. These spaces are limited.. Students wanting to park at Bay Campus outside of these hours are able to apply for a permit. You can find out more about the permit in the 'Car Parking Permits for Students' section below.

Pay & Display parking at our Bay Campus is extremely limited and we can’t guarantee there will be space available. We therefore don’t encourage students to park on the Bay Campus. If you do need to drive to the Bay, the Fabian Way Park and Ride is the nearest place to park.

Staff are able to park on campus by applying for an annual staff parking permit. If you’re a current staff member, you can find out more about this on our staff Intranet pages.

Car Parking Permits for Students

If you require reasonable adjustments for medical issues, live out of area, have dependent children in our crèche or you’re on a sports scholarship, you may be eligible for a parking permit. Find out if you're eligible here: Types of Student Parking Permits
