The community here in Swansea is very welcoming and accepting.

It gave me a safe space to do a lot of introspection about my identity without getting judged. No one here really seems to be bothered by who you love. My years here in Swansea have truly helped shape my finally getting comfortable and owning my identity. It was something I was never able to do before, coming from an intolerant Southeast Asian country, where coming out might get your family attempting to convert you and/or affect your career.

Seeing the university organising initiatives like encouraging staff members to wear rainbow lanyards in support really makes me feel the university wants to make us feel safe in expressing ourselves without judgement.

At the end of the day, it's who you are inside. Happy Pride!
