About

Terry is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) with extensive industry experience as a qualified accountant.

Having trained with PwC in Swansea, Terry moved into a management accounting role at South Wales Police where she introduced devolved budgets to department heads and divisional commanders and was part of the implementation team introducing a new financial and payroll system to the organisation. Terry’s next role was General Manager for a consortium company holding a large PFI contract in Wales. Shareholders included G4S, Skanska, Costain, WS Atkins and Deutsche Bank. As part of this role Terry successfully achieved a significant increase in shareholder returns by providing innovative accounting and taxation solutions.

Terry has extensive experience working in accounting practices providing advice to clients on both accounting and taxation issues.

After 20 years in industry and practice Terry moved into the education sector initially teaching ACCA professional qualifications at Gower College Swansea, moving to Swansea University in 2010 where she now teaches taxation and accounting to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Career Highlights

Teaching Interests

Currently teaching taxation modules to undergraduate students. 

Both taxation modules studied together provide students with ACCA or ICAEW professional accounting exemptions.

Many graduates enjoy studying taxation and use their BSc Accounting/BSc Accounting & Finance degree to enter the accounting profession where they have joined Big 4 accounting firms or medium/small accounting practices to start a career in taxation.

Other modules taught include financial accounting at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
