Coming from a background in engineering and consultancy, Rhys currently teaches Project Management and Decision Analysis at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

He has also provided courses for commercial and government bodies on Project Management and report writing.

He has supervised a number of PhD and MPhil students’ research in these topics including, simulation of R&D projects, the application of Artificial Intelligence methods to project choices, a study of the quality of housing construction in the USA, and the use of Real Options for real property acquisition for development projects, and is currently accepting applications of interest from potential PhD students.

Rhys has acted as an external examiner at other universities and has been a visiting lecturer at the University of Hawaii, and was a founding Commissioner of the Design Commission for Wales. 

Teaching

  • MN-2017 Management Science 1

    The purpose of the module is to provide a sound conceptual understanding of the role operational research plays in resource planning and allocation. The course is largely application oriented. Topics include Queuing Theory, Simulation and Linear Programming. These techniques are used in the optimal allocation of existing resources and provide useful information on the potential worth of additional resources.

  • MN-2549 Decision Analysis

    The purpose of this module is to provide an awareness and understanding of systematic and other methods available to assist decision makers in making decisions in complex situations, often under uncertainty, together with an awareness of the difficulties and issues arising with such situations and processes.

  • MN-3019 Project Management

    This module is intended to provide students with a thorough understanding of the project management process and the ability to undertake management of projects in practice.

  • MN-3055 Rheoli Prosiectau (Project Management)

  • MN-M525 Project Management

    This module is intended to provide students with a thorough understanding of the project management process and the ability to undertake management of projects in practice. This includes the use of computer based project management software for planning and control.
