About

I am an economic geographer with wide-ranging interests, including innovation systems, creative industries, intellectual property, economies of identity and local labour markets, particularly as these influence regional economic development. I joined Swansea University in 2000, having studied and taught at Simon Fraser University in Canada during the 1990s. I maintain a keen interest in the transformation of Vancouver from an industrial to creative city, and share this interest with Swansea Geography students on our Vancouver field course.

Areas Of Expertise

  • Regional economic development theory
  • Innovation Systems
  • Industrial clusters and institutional collaboration
  • Economies of identity, esp. in creative industries
  • Intellectual Property, esp. patent records
