I am currently working at the Department of Biosciences, Swansea University as an early stage researcher at Aquainvad-ed project ( ( ), where I am developing and optimising novel methods (environmental DNA barcoding and metabarcoding) for the early detection of freshwater and marine aquatic invasive species. I am an experienced biologist working within both fields, freshwater as well as marine. I have obtained a first MSc in Biology at University of Ljubljana and a second MSc in Coastal Ecohydrology at University of Algarve in collaboration with Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel. Before starting to work at Swansea University I have worked as an Environmental Expert at Balmas project (Ballast Water Management for Adriatic Sea Protection - Management of Harmful Aquatic Organisms). In the freshwater environment I have been mainly working within the area of stream habitats fragmentations and impact of invasive species.

Areas of interest:

  • Invasive species
  • Molecular ecology
  • Limnology
  • Ecohydrology
  • Estuaries
  • Marine ecology
  • Habitat fragmentations
  • Coastal ecology
