Professor Martin Sheldon qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1984 and worked in clinical practice for 14 years. Whilst in practice, Professor Sheldon was awarded Diplomas for work on health and fertility.
Professor Sheldon moved to the Royal Veterinary College in London in 1998, where he taught veterinary reproduction and established his interests in infection and immunity. During that time he was also awarded his PhD from the University of Liverpool, supervised by Professor Hilary Dobson.
Professor Sheldon was awarded a BBSRC Research Development Fellowship in 2006 to explore the interactions amongst infections, immunity and reproduction. In 2008, Professor Sheldon was appointed to a Personal Chair in Reproductive Immunibiology at Swansea University Medical School.
