About

Dr Josie Parker is a Senior Research Officer at Swansea University Medical School. Her research is focused on cytochrome P450 enzymes and antifungal resistance.  

Josie joined Swansea University as a Researcher in 2005. She obtained a BSc(hons) in Genetics in 2001 and was awarded her PhD for ‘An Investigation of the Role of Cytochromes P450 in Mycobacteria’ in 2006, from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Career Highlights

Teaching Interests

Josie is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a STEM Ambassador. She teaches on Genetics and Biochemistry Degree programmes at BSc and Masters levels.  

Josie’s teaching focuses on the areas of microbiology, antimicrobial drug resistance mechanisms, cytochrome P450 biochemistry, pharmacogenomics and biomedical laboratory skills.  

Josie supervises undergraduate projects in Microbiology and Biotechnology and supervises lab-based summer studentship and work experience placements.
