• SHE108 Developing Professional Practice, Principles and Judgment for Pre-hospital Care

  This module consolidates and further develops clinical skills through reflection and portfolio building. The student will explore their role within the regulatory frameworks and be introduced to leadership skills.

• SHE116 Medical conditions in the emergency & unscheduled care setting

  This module builds on module SHE115 Anatomy and Physiology (1) generating a broader understanding of common medical conditions within the emergency and unscheduled care environments. The module introduces a variety of common medical conditions and related pharmacology that learners are likely to encounter during practice placement, introducing the social sciences and the potential impact on health and well-being. Value based care is an integral aspect of this module and to support understanding of diversity and inclusivity, learners will have the opportunity to engage with community leaders from various cultural backgrounds. The module builds on academic success and introduces reflective practice, encouraging learners to adopt a reflective approach to their personal and professional development. Learners will be expected to engage with the e-learning provided, which focuses on enhancing their knowledge and understanding of common medical conditions through a variety of case studies. Opportunities will be provided for learners to engage in peer review; using prepared questions and answers for viva voce. Practice based learning will be supported by placements within the Welsh Ambulance Service, where learners will have the opportunity undertake a placements on an emergency ambulance and/ or a rapid response vehicle.

• SHE117 Trauma conditions in the emergency and unscheduled care setting

  This module introduces learners to traumatic incidents within the emergency and unscheduled care setting. Learners will explore the physiological and structural change that is affected by minor and major trauma, exploring the influence of human factors. This module includes introducing learners to the concept of major incidents, clinical shock, triage and appropriate scene management. Learners will build on their communication skills to support effective communication within teams and other agencies. Practical skills will be developed to support the safe and effective extrication and immobilisation of patients determined by the best available evidence. Practice based learning will be supported by placements on an emergency ambulance and or a rapid response vehicle within the Welsh Ambulance Service. The module is supported through e-learning.

• SHE117W Cyflyrau trawma mewn lleoliadau argyfyngau a gofal heb ei drefnu

  Mae'r modiwl hwn yn rhoi gwybod i'r dysgwyr am ddigwyddiadau trawmatig mewn lleoliadau argyfyngau a gofal heb ei drefnu. Bydd y dysgwyr yn archwilio'r newid ffisiolegol ac adeileddol sy'n deillio o drawma mân a mawr, gan ystyried dylanwad ffactorau dynol. Mae'r modiwl hwn yn cynnwys rhoi gwybod i'r dysgwyr am gysyniad digwyddiadau mawr, sioc glinigol, brysbennu a rheoli lleoliadau'n briodol. Bydd y dysgwyr yn adeiladu ar eu sgiliau cyfathrebu i gynorthwyo dulliau cyfathrebol effeithiol mewn timau ac asiantaethau eraill. Caiff sgiliau ymarferol eu datblygu i helpu i ryddhau cleifion a'u hatal rhag gallu symud mewn modd diogel ac effeithiol yn ôl y dystiolaeth orau sydd ar gael. Bydd lleoliadau gwaith mewn ambiwlans argyfwng a/neu gerbyd ymateb cyflym yng Ngwasanaeth Ambiwlans Cymru yn ategu dysgu ar sail ymarfer. Mae e-ddysgu'n ategu'r modiwl hwn.

• SHE119T Bridging Module (Paramedic)

  This module is aimed at emergency medical technicians (EMTs) who would like to access higher education with a view to achieving a recordable paramedic qualification. This module introduces students to core principles that underpin paramedic practice such as research, ethics, law and health promotion. The module will also revisit anatomy and pathophysiology which students have learned during their EMT qualifications.

  Mae'r modiwl hwn wedi'i anelu at dechnegwyr meddygol brys (EMTs) sy¿n dymuno cael mynediad i addysg uwch gyda'r bwriad o gyflawni cymhwyster parafeddyg cofnodadwy. Mae¿r modiwl hwn yn cyflwyno myfyrwyr i egwyddorion craidd sy¿n sail i ymarfer parafeddygol megis ymchwil, moeseg, y gyfraith a hybu iechyd. Bydd y modiwl hefyd yn ailedrych ar anatomeg a phathoffisioleg y mae myfyrwyr wedi'u dysgu yn ystod eu cymwysterau EMT.

• SHE200 Clinical Leadership in Practice

  This module explores the concept of clinical leadership and the influence various approaches will have on managing clinical situations and informing clinical decision making. Learners will begin to understand the links between effective leadership; critical thinking, ethical decision making, communication, and situational awareness. These non-technical skills will be analysed within the context of various clinical situations; enabling learners to apply this knowledge to support their ability in applying new technical skills. The module will facilitate learners to work safely and effectively within and across various professional settings; and enhance their ability to evaluate their own practice and the impact this has on self, others and patient outcomes. This module builds on the principles of leadership, continuing with the focus on self and building on the principle of working with others. Practice based learning is supported within a variety of contexts that include: Emergency department, Theatres, Maternity, Paediatrics and within the Welsh Ambulance Service on an emergency ambulance and or a rapid response vehicle. The module adopts a blended approach to learning and development and is supported by a variety of e-learning that will facilitate growth.

  Mae'r modiwl hwn yn archwilio cysyniad arweinyddiaeth glinigol a'r dylanwad y bydd yr ymagweddau amrywiol yn ei gadael ar reoli sefyllfaoedd clinigol a llywio penderfyniadau clinigol. Bydd y dysgwyr yn dechrau deall y cysylltiadau rhwng arweinyddiaeth effeithiol: meddwl yn feirniadol, gwneud penderfyniadau moesegol, cyfathrebu ac ymwybyddiaeth o sefyllfaoedd. Caiff y sgiliau annhechnegol hyn eu dadansoddi yng nghyd-destun sefyllfaoedd clinigol amrywiol, gan alluogi'r dysgwyr i ddefnyddio'r wybodaeth hon i ategu eu gallu wrth roi sgiliau technegol newydd ar waith.
