About

Mark is the Project Manager for the Awen Institute, a £3.5m research project developed by Swansea University, in partnership with University of South Wales and University of Wales Trinity Saint David.  Part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Welsh Government, the Awen Institute brings together researchers with older people and the creative industries to co-produce products, services and environments for an ageing population through research and development.

Mark has a Masters in Ageing Studies and over ten years’ experience as a researcher and project manager. Previous projects include the European funded Knowledge Exchange Project Care in Business, exploring how new technologies and emerging trends in the ICT sector can be innovatively exploited to meet the care needs of older people and a project exploring the role older people play in the mitigation of climate change as part of the Climate Change Consortium of Wales (C3W).  Before working for Swansea University, Mark worked for 6 years in Age Cymru as the Healthy Ageing Manager, developing and managing a series of national health promotion programmes for older people in Wales.
