Matthew's role at the University is split between teaching contract and land law, and developing communication skills both as extra-curricular components, and as credit-bearing modules. His particular interest is in the progression of skills through the medium of competition, and in this capacity he works with students to prepare for numerous external events.

When not at the University Matthew can normally be found honing smallholding skills, reading historical fiction, or playing chess.

Teaching

  • LAA233 Negotiations

This module is designed to inform the students about the different types of negotiating models that exist and to teach them the details of the concept of Principled Negotiations, in accordance with the Harvard Business School Model. Throughout the semester, the model will require preparation by the student of a particular negotiation in advance of the workshop. They will then conduct the negotiation in the class and reflect back on each others work in the second part of the class, before being given guidance in the theoretical and practical application of negotiations by the workshop leader.
