About

Following a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at Bangor University, Jo worked in statutory mental health services in South Wales. Upon completion of the Diploma in Social Work and MSc in Applied Social Sciences at Swansea University Jo practised as a social worker in a variety of settings, primarily adult substance misuse. Jo has worked in social work education at Swansea University since 1988, and is currently the Swansea University lead for post-qualifying social work education and social work internationalisation link. Jo is a visiting professor at the University of Houston, Texas, United States of America and at Zhongyuan University of Technology, Zhengzhou, People’s Republic of China.

Jo’s research interests include post-qualifying social work, disability, citizen involvement and substance misuse. Her PhD examined the inclusion of disability issues within social work education in Wales, United Kingdom, and Texas, United States of America. Jo is currently Associate Professor of Social Work at Swansea University.
