Dr Harvey holds a Daphne Jackson Fellowship, sponsored jointly by Swansea University and the EPSRC.
Much of his research is in the area of Alexandrov geometry, the study of inner metric spaces with a lower curvature bound. This subject has its own intrinsic beauty as well as casting new light on Riemannian geometry. He also studies symmetry in a wide variety of settings – general topological spaces, metric spaces, Alexandrov spaces and Riemannian manifolds.
His Fellowship has supported him in applying his geometric expertise to topological data analysis, taking on questions of geometric inference. His current work is on the construction of estimators for geometric invariants of submanifolds of Euclidean space.
Recently he has played a lead role in the OxCOVID19 Database project.
