Jo Perkins was born in Essex and graduated from the British School of Osteopathy, London in 1988. As a professional osteopath for the past 32 years, Jo manages her own clinic in Cardiff and has worked in Swansea University since 2013, initially as a clinic tutor, and since 2017 as a lecturer. She is Admissions lead and Module lead for Autonomous Osteopathic Practice – helping 4th years students prepare fro life as an osteopath when they graduate. She also tutors 4th year students at ABMU where 4th year osteopathy students treat chronic pain patients, and patients with complex co-morbidities.

Jo is Secretary for the South Wales Osteopathic Society which organises CPD events for osteopaths including past alumni.

Jo also teaches at Cardiff Metropolitan University on the Complementary Therapies Degree Programme and  also teaches for Teach Therapy for 10-12 days a year to complementary therapists. 

Jo has attained to date, a diploma in Osteopathy (1988), Counselling Theory and Practice (1994), PGCE (2004) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Paediatrics (2018). 

In terms of research, Jo is interested in the areas of Paediatrics and Expectant Mothers.

Outside of university Jo is learning Welsh and enjoys cycling.  She takes a Sunday school class for 5- 7 year olds and also prepares lunch for retired folk.
