Learners will be expected to engage with the e-learning provided, which focuses on enhancing their knowledge and understanding of common medical conditions through a variety of case studies. Opportunities will be provided for learners to engage in peer review; using prepared questions and answers for vivas.
Practice based learning will be supported by placements within the Welsh Ambulance Service, where learners will have the opportunity undertake a placements on an emergency ambulance and/ or a rapid response vehicle.

Evidence Informed Practice
This module enhances learners¿ insight into research and evidence informed practice by building on previous knowledge and contextualising research to paramedic practice. The module reflects the pace of change illustrated within the wider health care setting and the need for continuous review of practice to meet the growing demands, expectations and importance of providing care informed by the best available evidence. The module offers learners an opportunity to critically examine an area of practice, conduct a critical appraisal of the literature and formulate concise practice led questions.
A key aspect of this module will be the opportunity for learners to understand the impact that research has had on practice within Wales and the wider UK. This will be facilitated by members of the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust, who have undertaken research and created change based on the best available evidence. This opportunity will enable learners to understand the research process from conception through to study design, outcomes and impact on practice, delivered by those directly involved in the research. The module will be supported by e-learning.

Transition into professional practice
This module aims to support learners as they prepare to make the transition from learner to registered paramedic. The module will aim to equip learners to navigate a changing professional landscape and negotiate the shift in professional boundaries. The module will serve as a platform for generating critical insights around organisational structures and introduce the leadership principles that relate to quality improvement processes and change management. The module will prepare learners for employment within a dynamic and challenging context and will be delivered in partnership with the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust (WAST) as a key stakeholder.
The module will consolidate learning around professionalism, frameworks for professional practice and provide insight around career development. As the module works closely with Ambulance Trusts, the content and assessment are subject to change as policies, procedures, local pathways and career opportunities evolve with the changing profession and dynamics of practice.
Practice based learning will be supported by placements in the Welsh Ambulance Service on an emergency ambulance and/ or a rapid response vehicle.
