About

Llewellyn is currently working as a lecturer in the children and young people’s nursing team and he is the admissions tutor for pre-registration children’s nursing. He has very recently been promoted to Senior Lecturer (effective 01 March 2020). He came into academia following a successful children’s nursing career spanning over 20 years with experience in various different fields in this area. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Llewellyn is a qualified and NMC registered Children’s Nurse alongside being a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse in School Nursing. He holds a number of different post-registration qualifications which include an MSc in Advanced Practice (Child Health), a Public Health Nursing qualification which includes a community nurse prescriber qualification, and a teaching qualification amongst others.

Teaching Interests

Llewellyn’s teaching primarily relates to pre-registration nursing education for all three fields of nursing offered by Swansea University, with a primary focus on public health and health promotion activities. He also teaches on other courses related to his professional background in public health nursing which includes extensive safeguarding children experience.

Research

Llewellyn has specific research interests related to safeguarding children and professional practice in this area, with a focus on qualitative methodological approaches.
