  • SHC230 Professional Practice 2

    This module follows from the year 1 module in Professional Practice and further develops some topics as well as introducing others. The material is designed to provide support knowledge for the Healthcare Science student in their professional practice.

  • SHG135 Palliative and End of Life Care for Health Care Support Workers

    This module is designed to be accessed by health care support workers (HCSWs) who often care for people who are expected to die in the near future. The module will help the HCSW to understand the philosophy, principles and practices of palliative care and explore how these are used to deliver satisfactory end of life care. Pain and symptom management is studied with holistic methods of assessment being focused upon.

  • SHG3115 Assessment of the Older Person

    The module will enable health professionals to explore the complexities associated with the needs of the older person and identify strategies for promoting their health and wellbeing. It will allow the practitioner to apply their understanding of the complexities of ageing in order to make an effective contribution to the delivery of an improved service which better meets the needs of the older person.

  • SHGM04 Assessment of the Older Person

    The module will enable health professionals to explore the complexities associated with the needs of the older person and identify strategies for promoting their health and wellbeing. It will allow the practitioner to apply their understanding of the complexities of ageing in order to make an effective contribution to the delivery of an improved service which better meets the needs of the older person.

  • SHH216 Health Promotion and Health Education

    This module provides a sound basis for a greater understanding of health promotion and health education to enable students to utilise health promotion in practice.

  • SHHM13 Advanced Practice: Management and Leadership

    This module provides students with the opportunity to critically examine their role in relation to management and leadership issues. The focus will be on providing the student with knowledge and skills to enhance their practice.

  • SHN125 Introduction to the Fundamentals of Nursing Practice (Adult)

    This core module addresses specific keys areas relating to the fundamentals of nursing practice and clinical exposure encompassing mandatory training. The module will introduce students to the profession of nursing, the underpinning values of the nursing profession and the professional codes of practice. The importance of patient dignity, respect, care and compassion will be integrated throughout the module and related to safe, person-centred care. The module will introduce the students to meeting the client/service user¿s physical and emotional needs.

  • SHN140 Introduction to Higher Education and Nursing Practice (Adult)

    This module aims to prepare students to study effectively in Higher Education and in the clinical setting. Completion of the module will empower the student to participate effectively in acquiring knowledge through a variety of learning strategies enabling progression towards becoming an independent learner in both academic and clinical settings. This core module also addresses keys areas relating to the importance of fundamentals of nursing practice.
