  • SHG107 An Introduction to Healthcare Practice (SDP)

    This module provides an introduction to core nursing concepts, such as law, ethics, research, numeracy and health promotion. Completion of this module will empower the student to participate effectively in the delivery of healthcare practice. And the student will have the opportunity to undertake a range of clinically focussed skills appropriate to their relevant professional body. This core module also addresses key areas in study development using a variety of learning strategies to ensure the student can effectively acquire and utilise knowledge.

  • SHG108 Introduction to Health Sciences

    This module will introduce the student to normal anatomy and physiology, key sociological and psychological concepts and principles of health promotion. Completion of this module supports the student in acquiring the knowledge to apply understanding of abnormal physiology to patient physical states. Through a variety of learning strategies the student is supported to appreciate how health education and health promotion can have a positive effect upon patient wellbeing.

  • SHG392 Health Care and the Law

    The aim of the module is to raise awareness of the legal principles that underpin health care.

  • SHGM12 Physical Health Issues in Adult Mental Health Practice

    The aim of the module is to equip health and social care professionals to respond to the physical health needs of adults with mental health problems, as this client group has high levels of morbidity and mortality. The module aims to better equip staff to work between primary and secondary care to ensure that the range of health needs are met. During the module there will be opportunities for staff to develop physical healthcare assessment skills and engage in health promotion strategies.

  • SHNM10 Managing Complex Care in Deteriorating Situations (Mental Health)

    This module will enable students to develop the evidence based knowledge, skills and professional values required to assess and manage complex care in deteriorating situations. This module uses a variety of contemporary learning approaches to develop knowledge and skills in managing complex care needs, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, appraising best evidence for nursing practice and the comprehensive and systematic assessment of patients / service users with complex needs.

  • SHP309 Applied Psychology, Health, Illness and Medicine

    This module examines the practical application of psychology to health, illness and medicine.
