Dissertation (Health Care Management)
This core dissertation module is a major element of the MSc Health Care Management programme and provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to plan, design, and conduct an independent research project. Working under academic supervision, you will critically engage with a health care management issue of relevance to your professional or personal interests. The dissertation offers you an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge, methodological skills, and critical analysis to a substantial piece of original work that addresses contemporary challenges in health care systems and services.
Your dissertation is the chance to shape your degree around your own interests. Whether you want to explore leadership in hospitals, patient safety, health policy, digital health, or another area that inspires you, this module enabled an investigation into a question that matters to you. Dissertation (Health Care Management)
Students will choose their own area of study, in consultation with study supervisor, and in accordance with the aims of the award. Students will be encouraged to attempt a project-based, business-planning project while maintaining high academic standards in their research. However, students may also opt for a more theoretical exploration of an area of relevance to health care and health care management.

Politics and Policies
This module is a compulsory module in the MSc Health Care Management programme. It will analyse the forces and processes that shape modern health care policies, discussing the phases of policy formation, implementation and evaluation. Theories and models of the policy making process will be examined as they relate to actual practice and the potential obstacles to `perfect implementation¿ will be studied. A series of contemporary issues such as rationing, patient and public involvement, and policy divergence after devolution will be discussed.

We will explore the way healthcare systems are financed and sustained and evaluate the social and economic considerations required for equitable and efficient resource allocation and prioritisation within the wider context of competing demands for healthcare interventions and services.
