Brigid Haines has published widely on women’s writing in German and on German writing from eastern Europe. A particular focus has been the work of the Nobel-prize winning writer Herta Müller who has visited Swansea University’s Centre for Contemporary German culture twice and is an Honorary Fellow of the University. Frau Müller also gave a reading at the British Library in 2017 at Dr Haines’s invitation. Dr Haines has supervised four PhDs to completion and was Chair of Women in German Studies from 2015 to 2019.
