I completed my undergraduate studies here at Swansea in 2011. I then decided to do a Masters through Research and a PhD here, both funded by the AHRC. My Masters through Research considered to what extend the label ‘absurdist’ could be used when discussing the playwright Gwenlyn Parry.

The PhD allowed me to look at the Theatre of the Absurd in Wales in more detail and to ask if it’s time for us to bid farewell to this type of theatre in Wales. I’m currently developing one element of the PhD, a comparative study of Aled Jones Williams, a Welsh playwright and Sergi Belbel a Catalan playwright as a part of the Saunders Lewis Memorial Scholarship. www.cronfagoffasaunderslewis.org/enillwyr.html#hannahSams
