THE SWANSEA UNIVERSITY WARPIGS
Who are we?
The Swansea Warpigs are an all-ability rugby league team that boasts a wealth of success. Whether you have experience in league, are converting from rugby union, or have never touched the ball, the team will get you ready to step onto the pitch with full confidence.
Established in 1977, the Warpigs are the oldest amateur rugby league team in wales, and continue to be great! In the 19/20 season we went unbeaten in the league alongside a long stint in the cup. We compete in the BUCS Western 1A division with the aim of being promoted this season.
Off the pitch the club has a thriving social life with weekly socials being held on a Wednesday each week. Most the socials are themed each week so get the costumes ready! Look forward to ‘tight and bright’, ‘warriors social’ and the Old boys social where we get old Warpigs to come back to Sketty for a game.
Due to the restrictions the current pandemic has placed on sport, we will require all players intending on training to fill out track and trace and symptom checker forms a short time prior to the training time. This way the committee can keep a track of who is going to training and split the players into necessary groups. Due to the smaller size of the rugby league team it is expected that everyone can train if they have filled out the forms. The names of the people who are cleared to train will be posted on our social media prior to training.
There is no trial session for freshers- as we look to include as many players of all abilities to the squad.
Please follow our Facebook page and Instagram where information for freshers will be given out.
Training will take place on the astroturf on singleton campus from 18:00 to 19:00 every Monday night.
The club will be organising other events individually such as beach training and gym sessions.
