Swansea University Sailing Club Competes in the Warwick Turtle

Swansea University Sailing Club kicked off the year by taking two teams to the Warwick Turtle for their first event of 2019.

Saturday’s racing was rather successful with both Swansea Black and Swansea White winning two out of their six races in the day.

Strong gusts and full rigs meant it was inevitable that there would be some capsizes amongst the Swansea teams; however it was a good excuse for the crews to practice their hiking and our helms to improve their tactics at speed.

Arriving at the club on the Sunday to 30-knot winds caused the final day of sailing to be cancelled. However, results from the Saturday brought Swansea Black team to place a comfortable 12th with Swansea White coming in at 16th.

Well done to both our teams!
