Pole Fitness get social
We have hosted a number of socials so far this semester, each with their own unique flair or theme. Each event presented an opportunity to socialize, develop friendships, and have a great time on nights out or enjoy an activity we’ve put on. Though the attendance at the social has varied from large in number to smaller and more intimate, the satisfaction level of attendees has been fairly consistent. We’ve had a couple of non-drinking socials so far this semester to give our members an opportunity to unwind and get to know each other, but also keep themselves safe, sober, and sane for the next days lectures.
Where’s Wally Social
Our first social of the year was a Where’s Wally-themed pub crawl. Members old and new dressed up in their stripey best and geared up for a night of socializing and many, many pints. We met for pres at JC’s bar in Fulton House on Singleton Campus where we began the process of mingling over a few drinks. After JC’s we proceeded to make our way through pubs in Brynmill, the Uplands, and St. Helen’s before club hopping on Wind St.
Our second social was non-drinking a trip to Swansea’s wonderful Limitless trampoline/inflata-park. Working with a slightly smaller group this time around we bounced around, dueled on an inflatable platform, went down giant slides and truly let out our inner child. With obstacle courses and a foam pit primed for foam wars, we had a great time!
This social took place the day after Halloween, and was the closest to your average social, with members dressed up in their favourite fancy dress, ready for a night out for Sin Savers Thursday. After a few drinks, we made our way over to Sin City for a spooky night out.
This may have been the social with the fewest attendees, but by no means did that stop the fun. A few members, and friends of members, bundled up and made their way down to the beach for a roaring bonfire.
As the semester came to a close and deadlines galore made their way through the ranks, we decided to put on a nice, calm movie night. Completely with snacks, cheesy films, a snuggly dog as our surprise guest, and a cozy pyjama theme, our members settled in for a nice, relaxing night.
For our final social this semester, we hosted a holiday-themed dinner with ugly holiday sweaters encouraged, at Swansea’s Slug and Lettuce. This will be a more casual offering, compared to previous holiday dinners. A quiet sit-down, complete with delicious food, drinks, and conversation will be held on the final Wednesday of term, conveniently located right at the top of Wind St. for anyone wanting a night out afterwards.
