NETBALL – REVIEW OF THE YEAR 2017-2018

Waw!!! What a year Swansea University Netball Club have had!

We have exceeded all expectations this year and have been more successful than ever. Especially in our performance and high standard of fundraising for charities (local and global), as well as creating an incredible drive and community within the club. This year we have 153 paying and active members, with 80 of those coming from Associate memberships and 73 as Standard memberships. All levels of ability are welcome here at SUNC and this year particularly it has been rewarding to see some girls who have massively improved in their Netball game from when they first started at SUNC.

SUNC has three teams which have competed in BUCS this year, and a fourth in the local Swansea league. We have seen our first team being promoted for the first time in 8 years, and our seconds and thirds narrowly placing second in their respective leagues. After some nail biting games and unfortunate close scores, all the teams have done exceedingly well considering new players to SUNC and combinations on court.

We been lucky to have our successes showcased with numerous ‘Team of the Week’ wins and one week where all three of our BUCS teams managed to get ‘Team of Week/Club of the Week due to three huge wins!

While all that was fantastic, the icing on the cake for this year was winning ‘Club of the Year’ in the Sports Awards. This was an amazing achievement after so much hard work from our committee and fab girls. We are very pleased with the great year we have had, and would like to thank our Club Captain, Yasmin Li for her dedication throughout, she really has given her all to SUNC.

Here’s to a great summer and can’t wait to see everyone next year!
