Food Drive for SYSHP

For the last few years, the Swansea University Swimming Team has held a food drive in aid of the Swansea Young Single Homeless Project (SYSHP). We as a team originally chose this charity as we saw it as a good opportunity to help the local community, especially those of a young age.

SYSHP are currently helping over 100 people in the local area. They provide a variety of services to 16-25 year olds who have inappropriate housing or are homeless. SYSHP itself is a partnership of young people, paid staff, volunteers and is managed by a voluntary committee. SYSHP’s principle aim states that they have a vision of a society where young people are valued for the contributions they make; where they are the solution and not the problem.

This year was our most successful food donation to date, raising over £200 worth of non-perishable goods, a trend we would like to see continue in future.

Unfortunately, there are always going to be those in less fortunate circumstances than our own, so every donation goes along way, especially during the winter months.

As a team, we would like to say a massive thank you to all those that donated, and a special mention Steve Pearce of Cymru Coaches/Idols who donated £100 worth of supplies to the cause.
