DON’T DRINK AND DROWN CAMPAIGN WINS AT RLSS AWARDS
Don’t Drink and Drown Campaign wins at RLSS Awards
Last year members of the lifesaving club attended the RLSS (Royal Life Saving Society) Conference 2017 after generous funding from an RLSS branch and the club. We attended in the hope of increasing the clubs knowledge and contacts within the lifesaving community and feel the conference a huge success in this regard.
Every year a "Branch Challenge" takes place at the conference, where branches from all across the UK put in an entry highlighting the outstanding contributions to drowning prevention. Last year, West Wales branch entered Swansea University Lifesaving Team highlighting the work on our Don't Drink and Drown Campaign and set up of The Lifesaving Project.
We are proud to say that we won this award, beating all other branches in the UK! We are often unable to showcase our successes as a club but this award highlights the work we do alongside training and competitions all year.
Building on our success from last year we hope to relaunch the campaign to continue promoting safety near water, something very important to us here in Swansea University being so close to the sea and the river Tawe.
