At Sport Swansea, we have a huge range of events throughout the year, providing opportunities to get involved - from taking part in a competition to a camp over the school break to supporting the Green and White Army at Varsity.
Programmes and Events
Welsh Varsity usually takes place around Easter, with Swansea and Cardiff hosting the event in alternate years - so keep your diaries clear for the sporting event of the year!
It is the biggest student event in Wales, and is the second largest of the British varsity games, behind Oxford-Cambridge.
Varsity sees Swansea and Cardiff universities competing in more than 30 different sports, from basketball, rowing, golf, hockey and swimming, to fencing, squash, and ultimate frisbee.
The event culminates with the showpiece rugby match with typical crowds of 15,000 to 20,000 in a major stadium – usually the Principality in Cardiff or the Liberty in Swansea – and often on live TV.
Our sporting facilities overlook a five-mile stretch of sandy beach and are among the finest in any UK university.
This enviable location combined with superb facilities and our wealth of experience in organising and supporting sports events and competitions at all levels has allowed us to play host to major European and international events.
Our impressive sporting event portfolio includes the IPC Athletics European Championships, the FIT European Touch Championships, and the FISU Rugby 7s University World Championship.
We offer sports camps and athletics camps for a variety of levels during school breaks.
These half-term and school holiday camps are supervised by our skilled staff in our outstanding facilities and are a great way to keep children active during the holidays or to develop their skills in a chosen sport.
