Name: Samuel Brown
Year of study: 3rd
PhD title: An investigation of the socio-economic relationship between measures of civil society and social cohesion on subjective measures of individual well-being: a spatial analysis.
What is your research about: I look at the effects that different employment contracts have on well-being in the UK and evaluate whether different levels of social cohesion and civil society impact upon these effects.
Have you published any research yet: Not yet.
What do you like best about studying a PhD here at the School of Management: There is a fantastic research culture at Swansea University, where staff and students alike are able to come together to share their ideas in a free and friendly way.
Any advice for any prospective PhD students: Write, write and write some more. It’s easy to get bogged down in reading and collecting/analysing data, and writing can be neglected. Don’t let this happen to you.
What would you like to do after your PhD: Ideally I would like to continue researching at a university whilst lecturing.
