Swansea Mathematician receives prestigious international award

It has been announced that Professor Edward Norman Dancer, Department of Mathematics, is this year's recipient of the Schauder Medal, awarded to individuals for their significant achievements related to topological methods in nonlinear analysis.

Professor Norman DancerProfessor Norman Dancer, a Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Science, Swansea University, and Emeritus Professor at the University of Sydney, has been awarded the 2017 Schauder Medal, by the Juliusz P. Schauder Center for Nonlinear Studies, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Torun, Poland, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the theory of nonlinear analysis, differential equations, and applications.

The Schauder Medal is a prestigious international mathematics prize that is awarded approximately every two years for significant achievements in nonlinear analysis.

The award ceremony will take place during a Special Workshop in Nonlinear Analysis event on May 21-23, 2018 at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland.
