Professor Matt Jones, department of Computer Science, has been appointed to an Honorary Professorship
Matt Jones has been appointed to an Honorary Professorship at the University of Cape Town from July 1st 2014 for five years. The Professorship will facilitate his ongoing work on mobile interfaces and devices for resource constrained communities, providing him with opportunities to collaborate with the world leading Hasso Plattner Institute in ICT4D and the UCT4D Research Group. Matt's collaboration with UCT began many years ago through his friendship with Prof Gary Marsden who died suddenly at the age of 43 at the end of December 2013. Matt says of his appointment, "UCT is one of the world's top universities and I am honoured by this appointment. I will work hard to further honour Gary Marsden's memory who did so much to establish the research area of human computer interaction for the hundreds of millions of people who are socially and economically disadvantaged".
