Dr Richard Smith, Department of Geography, was an invited speaker at the event on June 4
The event was held at the historic Sadler Wells theatre in central London, and had an audience on the day of 1600 people. The theme of the event was ‘confidence’ and talks from the day, and live musical performances, were broadcast live over the internet, and are also subsequently available to view on-line. Richard's talk was on ‘London after Brexit’ where he argued that today’s world is as much about cities as it is about nations; that to understand London after Brexit we need to change the map in our heads, abandoning the map of the world’s nation-states we all learnt at school to appreciate a new meta-geography: the world city network.
