What shall I read/watch/listen to before I come? (Reading lists/YouTube videos or tv programmes/podcasts)

Before you start your studies it would be a good idea to do some online Python or Java programming tutorials.

Does my course have any student societies?

Yes you can join the Swansea University Computer Society

Where can I find information about modules?

You can find out about modules on our page by clicking on your chosen degree scheme. Scroll down for module information.

Do I have to buy any special equipment for this course?

The course does not assume you have access to a personal computer or laptop – we have enough computer labs such that it is possible to complete the course without your own. However, having your own computer/laptop means you can work on coursework and projects in your own space and when it suits you.

In terms of computer specifications, nothing special is required. Any standard computer (running Microsoft Window, Mac OS, or even Linux) would be suitable. It does not need to be a particularly powerful machine.  However, Google Chromebooks would not be suitable.

In terms of software, you do not need any special software. As a department, we try to use Open Source software that is freely available. Furthermore, when you enrol with us you will get access to Microsoft Office 365 which includes 1TB of cloud storage.

When will I get my timetable?

New students will be able to view their timetable once they have enrolled online.
