Swansea University Research Forum

Swansea University Research Forum (SURF) is a community of research activists at Swansea University who are committed to enhancing the research environment, and to encouraging interdisciplinary networking — facilitating individual research excellence, and aiming to inspire research throughout all levels of the University.

SURF aims to

  • Facilitate interdisciplinary research
  • Provide an opportunity for networking
  • Represent and communicate researchers' views
  • Influence university research strategy
  • Improve the research culture
  • Inspire individual research excellence
  • Welcome research visitors to the University
  • Make research fun!

We currently have around 90 Fellows from Schools and units across campus. Membership is deliberately diverse in all senses, and ranges from postgraduates to professors, as well as from historians to engineers and wider still.

Activities include a Research Coaching Scheme (Yn Gymraeg), a Research as Art competion, a range of research-focussed events, and collaboration with the Bridging the Gaps initiative.
