Researchers from Swansea University’s Department of Psychology, College of Human and Health Sciences have teamed up with Elysium Neurological to launch their 3rd annual conference on acquired brain injury titled ‘Neurobehavioural Disability after Acquired Brain Injury: Recent Innovations in Clinical Practice and Delivery’.
Taking place on 26 November 2018 at the Swansea Marriott Hotel, the exciting one-day conference will bring together leading experts in acquired brain injury to provide authoritative accounts of the latest clinical innovations and cutting-edge developments in the management of challenging behaviour following brain injury.
Professor Nick Alderman (Clinical Director, Neurobehavioural Rehabilitation Services, Elysium Healthcare and Honorary Professor in the Department of Psychology, Swansea University) explained that “challenging behaviours arising from neurobehavioural disability have been recognised as posing a greater long term impediment to community integration than physical disabilities. Therefore, it is essential that appropriate rehabilitative intervention is delivered to reduce the financial and social cost to individuals, their families, and society”
Dr Claire Williams added “We are absolutely delighted to be holding a third conference in our series of events concerning acquired brain injury. Our varied, dynamic and practical conference programme will support a wide range of rehabilitative practices and will be of interest to all those interested and/or involved in the care of individuals with an acquired brain injury, including case managers, commissioners, rehabilitation and healthcare professionals, clinicians, academics and legal fraternity.”
The conference programme features eminent speakers, including Dr Jessica Fish (Clinical Psychologist, Oliver Zangwill Centre for Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust), Dr Mark Holloway (Brain Injury Case Manager, Head First, and Professor Nick Alderman (Clinical Director, Neurobehavioural Rehabilitation Services, Elysium Healthcare) to name a few.
